Fair, plain terms.
Case Timeline is a free tool that helps you organise your own information. Using it means you agree to the terms below.
What Case Timeline is
Case Timeline is a tool that helps you set out the events of your matter in date order. It is general information and a self-help tool, not legal advice. Using it does not create a lawyer-client relationship, and it does not replace advice from a qualified lawyer, Legal Aid, or a community legal centre.
You are responsible for your content and your matter
You decide what to enter, and you are responsible for its accuracy. Court and tribunal requirements differ by matter and change over time. Before you rely on a chronology for any legal purpose, check what the relevant court, tribunal or scheme requires, and get advice if you are unsure. We do not guarantee that a timeline built with this tool will meet the requirements of any particular court, tribunal or proceeding.
Acceptable use
Please use Case Timeline lawfully and only for organising your own matter or a matter you are helping with. Do not use it to store unlawful content, to attempt to breach the security of the service, or in a way that interferes with other people’s use of it.
Your information
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short: the free builder runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded unless you choose to create an account and save it.
The optional paid backup
The core tool is free. You may optionally purchase a one-time cloud backup that lets you save your timelines to your account, reach them from another device, share a read-only link, and export a court-ready PDF. If you buy it, you get the features described at the time of purchase. Nothing in these terms limits the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Consumer rights and liability
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights. Subject to those rights, Case Timeline is provided “as is”, and to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the tool or from any decision you make in your matter. The tool helps you organise information; the responsibility for your case remains yours.
Availability
We aim to keep the service available, but we may need to change, suspend or discontinue features from time to time. The free browser-based builder is designed to keep working even without an account.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we do, we will update the date below. Continuing to use the tool after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia and the state or territory in which the operator is based.
Who operates Case Timeline
Case Timeline is operated by Digital Safety & Recovery Australia (ABN 43 599 714 077). For any question about these terms, use the contact form.
